Holidays To Tenerife – Visit These Lesser Known Locations

Tenerife is the largest island in the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. It is also a hot spot for backpackers who want to enjoy their holidays to Tenerife in quiet bliss. There are a lot of natural wonders, cultural events, and intriguing attractions that will make a backpacker's heart beat in delight.

Explore the locations outside the beautiful beaches of Playa de las Americas, the fun water parks, and the opulent accommodations. Turn away the beaten path and visit to these magical albeit less known spots that make Tenerife one of the most interesting islands in the Canaries.

1. Los Gigantes
Visit the beautiful town of Los Gigantes where you can marvel at huge rock formations, the primary features of the place. Reserve a boat trip and get a chance to sail alongside the groups of dolphins that stay in the waters just off the bay. If you wish a closer look at the dolphins, it is a good idea to hire a smaller vessel or charter one.

Back on land, you may want to hike along the verdant, beautiful gardens such as Puerto de la Cruz's Botanical Gardens and the Jardines de Atlantico that will surely ease the stress off you.

2. Mount Tiede
At 3,718 meters from sea level, the snow-topped Mt. Tiede is the highest point in Spain and the third highest volcano in the globe when measured from the ocean floor. Hiking trails and climbing routes direct in, out, and around the natural reserve that surround the grandiose mountain. Here you can encounter eerie rock formations, wild flowers, rarely seen birds, endemic reptiles, and other unusual animals. Top off your adventure by scrambling up the mountain itself and setting foot on its summit. If this proves to be really tiresome, you can just board the cable cars and bus to the summit.

3. La Gomera
La Gomera is a small neighboring island that is accessible by boat. For adventurers who want to experience the "hidden Tenerife" experience, this island is ideal for you. Here you can see amazing waterfalls and natural gardens of the Garajonay National Park. Immerse in the local culture by interacting with the locals in the quiet villages that dot the island. Far from urban life, these locals still retain the customs and traditions} that have been practiced for generations.
